Light. Material. Color. Concept. Space. Architecture.

Founded in 1999, thinkbuild architecture BDA has realised a wide range of projects across the private and public sectors, from lighting and colour design, custom furniture and interiors through to buildings and urban design.

Led by German-American architect Jason Danziger, thinkbuild practises a people-centred, social architecture rooted in applied phenomenology: how a space is actually felt by the people who will be living them.

Buildings are developed, as far as possible, together with those who will live, work, learn and recover in them. A wide range of materials is deployed, from wood, stone and glass to colour and light, each chosen not only for cost and compliance but also for what it contributes to the experience and the working of the space.

thinkbuild is a fully licensed German architectural practice and offers the complete range of services, from feasibility and first concept through to construction supervision and completion on site.

The practice's deepest and longest-running work is in architecture and psychiatry and in spaces for early childhood, adaptive reuse of existing buildings, alongside spatial colour design, custom lighting, furniture design, living spaces, and retail.

Jason Danziger also consults and lectures internationally on these and other subjects.

THE THINKBUILD STORY

Jason Danziger founded thinkbuild architecture in 1999 in New York. In 2000 he moved to Berlin to teach at the Technical University, where the practice's transatlantic and research-based orientation took shape.

The name thinkbuild describes the method: research and practice are deliberately run together, so that findings are tested in built work rather than left on paper, and so that the studio's teaching and its building feed each other.

The result is work that is highly detailed and specific to its place. Colour, light, materials and construction are researched project by project rather than taken from a catalogue, and a question raised on the building site can still change the design.

Licht. Material. Farbe. Konzept. Raum. Architektur.

1999 gründete Jason Danziger thinkbuild architecture in New York.
